Heavy, hairy, sticky and loud: the purview of Ivy Gardens, a three piece unit from Ontario, Canada that’s been building their signature sound since it’s DIY origins in 2014. Joe Zandwyk’s beaten-to-hell drums, Sebastian Hogg’s stabbing organ, wall-shaking bass synths and Andrew Blackborow’s heavy, pummeling riffs – all crucial ingredients in exacting the band’s unique vision. Sometimes under the influence of classic Sabbath or Queens of the Stone Age, but regularly bringing to mind the 90s “alternative”: bands like Kyuss, Helmet, or even Shellac, and their focus on bringing new sounds and new ideas to an old medium.
